I think I'm the only person who doesn't like Dancing on the Highway.
.. now wait a minute ...
the live acoustic version is so perfect that the studio version doesn't come close. And that kind of saddens me.. a lot. Because the live acoustic version is so... perfect.

i think Suicide Machine gets it for the impossibility of it...i'd pretty much come to accept it like...well, like vocals for See You In Heaven. so it was such a shock to see it posted.
and hearing it was pretty good too.
i think Crazy Fucker might be my favourite tune. lately i've been thinking there's something's about elliott's delivery that seems a bit :\ i dunno unsatisfactory for me. my head's in a different place and i'm demanding my own current direction of what he wrote and sang in his own direction years ago. stupid i know. but the point of saying that is, Crazy Fucker grabs me everytime i hear it. how even though i'm on a different route to what i'm looking for in singing style, it hits me right up so close from beneath those analysing thoughts. how he could not deliver those vocals more perfectly. and i've no idea why. plus i love those songs (there's a bunch of them unreleased) with the lyrics like that...i can't put my finger on what it is about them...the mood but also the intense meaning but also no i can't put my finger on that either. i'll shut up.

Place Pigalle and Suicide Machine, because those were the ones I was there and went HOLY FUCK! for. Haha. And O So Slow. Melodic Noise is one of them too. Just sitting there and hearing it going "Whoa Elliott..."

a bunch of figure 8 stuff leaked before figure 8 came out. it included stuff like brand new game and no life. in fact the only version of no life we still have is from that leak. pretty bad quality though. people have always traded bootlegs but i think those were mostly live shows that were being traded around before he died.

ahh, yeah i guess that makes sense. i guess i assumed things were leaked around the time the album they were from came out, but i see that probably doesnt make much sense now.
i remember my first week on the board being given a link to this site that had all these rare songs of elliotts on there that werent on albums, i must be remembering wrong but i thought that was started before he died.

I only have the demo recording of this. Is there any others? I really like this song and I think his vocal delivery is fine for a demo. It sounds very disaffected, which I think is very appropriate for the song. This one has always given me a warm, consoling feeling, probably because having been a musician--and a performing one in my earlier life--I have had similar thoughts go through my head, especially about heckling "half-assed, middle class" boys. I don't think I could have ever put such thoughts into song as elegantly as Elliott did. The chords and guitar playing are old timey gospel, like what you would have heard in some Southern missionary baptist church circa 1930. I love how Elliott adapted that old timey style to a song about his personal perspective on feeling socially alienated. BTW, I don't have some of these leaks you guys are talking about and would happily trade whatever I have, Elliott or non-Elliott, for them. Please PM me here if you can help me out. I have Place Pigelle, Dancing on the Highway, See You in Heaven, and Crazy Fucker. Was there a studio version of Flowers for Charlie? I only have a live version...
