The original Sweetaddy board will be deleted within a month. We need to organize to preserve information from the board, especially regarding Elliott Smith's history and music, quickly. Here's where to discuss the most efficient way to do this.

Copy + Paste.
For the more efficient users Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V.
problem solved.
Next problem: the gas crises.

As somebody else already asked...is there a way to get at the Memorial Forum?
EDIT: Never mind.

It appears that the content of the Memorial Forum has already been deleted.
I have the ability still to do things like delete and sticky threads to help condense and highlight information to be saved, but I want to be sure that I'm not deleting things that people want to preserve.

Why bother deleting at all? Focus on preserving.

The purpose of deleting would be to prune down the information to what needs to be saved, so that other people here focusing on preserving can do so with greater expediency. Easier to do when you're looking through a few hundred threads than a few thousand.

Wouldn't it be easier to give someone a set of pages to preserve. Such as one person gets 1 - 10, next person gets 11-20, etc. If it's all going to be gone in a month anyway, I see no point in sifting through each thread to delete it.

well you might as well delete all the convos regarding the argument. that will get rid of half the forum and should be easy to get what you want.

I've just had a look and I have found a word doc of a lot of the flawed and drunk thread in it - 101 pages to be exact. I downloaded it a couple of months ago so I could read it offline.
It'd be a start if the memorium board really is gone

Did anyone save the "I kiss goodbye" thread from the Memorial Forum.
I really wish someone had that. That was one of the most pivotal threads in Addy history.

Yup, whatever is most efficient. I'm letting you guys know what I can do as an option, if it can help. I'll do whatever I can to help preserve as much information as possible, and I DEFINITELY would not want to remove information from that board that people want to retrieve.

Force archive.org to archive it. That will save SOME of the data right away. Find someone with hosting (I might have access to some but won't know till later) and get the raw data from the server and move it

Well, I dont know how this can be done without Aaron's access to the server. If he allows someone to that data, it shouldnt be TOO difficult (dont know how its set there) to migrate it somewhere else

i've got tons of server space but how does one move it? did sweetaddy.com have it's own database, or are all those posts stuck in the BLAMO database? guess aaron can answer that :\

Well, I dont know how this can be done without Aaron's access to the server. If he allows someone to that data, it shouldnt be TOO difficult (dont know how its set there) to migrate it somewhere else I could likely convince him to do that if it's possible, especially since it would allow him to get it off his server sooner. It's just a matter of someone stepping up who can publicly store this information safely and permanently.
